Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about your background, including what sparked your interest in Japan and how you came to join ElecONE?

Hi, my name is Diksha. I’m a software engineer here at ElecONE.I enjoy creating software that’s efficient,
user-friendly and genuinely useful. I speak English and Japanese.
I first heard about ElecONE through a recruiter, and I was really impressed by what the company is
doing. The idea of automating the daily operations of new power retailers caught my attention right away.
Since I haven’t worked in the power industry before, the chance to learn something new was exciting. So,
overall, it felt like a place where I could grow and make a real impact.

Could you describe the scope of an engineer’s role at ElecONE and your current position?

Here, engineers do a bit of everything, like customizing, building new features and supporting clients. We get to be involved in multiple stages of a project, from concept to delivery.
I’m mainly responsible for development work like building APIs, frontend pages and stored procedures. I also work on client-specific website settings and support our international clients in meetings.
Since we handle both development and client support, I get to work on different parts of the product. So, it’s a great opportunity to learn and grow as an engineer.
I work with both Japanese and international clients. And as I mentioned earlier, I support them in meetings, get involved in development and talk through technical details with them when necessary.

What does a typical workday look like for you, and how are projects executed at ElecONE?

My day usually starts with checking my schedule. Then I might be writing APIs in C# or handling stored procedures. I might also be attending client meetings and setting up websites for clients.
I also sometimes tweak frontend pages using Angular.
I report my work progress to my leader daily. I also work with the Sales team to discuss client website settings and with the management team to handle client queries.
Our team members come from diverse backgrounds, like professors, engineers who switched to sales,
even economics graduates. But everyone is friendly, fun and always open to learning and tackling new challenges.

What do you find most rewarding about your work, and what challenges have you experienced?

As an engineer, seeing a feature or design I spent weeks on actually being used by clients is really satisfying. Of course, there are challenges too. Since we work with different teams and clients, coordinating and keeping everyone aligned can sometimes be tricky, especially when technical expectations don’t match right away. And yeah, sometimes the deadlines are tight.
But honestly, those situations have helped me become more flexible and organized.
One particularly memorable experience was my first project after joining ElecONE. I had to work with the
FIX protocol, which was new to me, and communicate with a client in Japanese for the first time to
resolve any issues that came up. It was tough but exciting, and with the team’s support, we successfully
passed the first phase. I learned a lot, and it was really rewarding.

What kind of person thrives as an engineer at ElecONE?

At ElecONE, I’d say mindset matters even more than technical skills. If you enjoy learning, working with others, and communicating, or if you want to get better at it, you’ll do really well here.
On the other hand, this role probably isn’t the best fit for someone who prefers working completely independently or isn’t interested in learning new things. It works best for someone who’s flexible and comfortable working with a team.

Finally, could you share your future aspirations and a message for those considering?

I want to keep growing as an engineer, getting experience in both development and working with clients around the world.
To anyone thinking about applying, be ready to learn, take on challenges and get your hands into a bit of everything. It’s exciting, sometimes tricky, but totally worth it, and yes, it can actually be fun!
I hope to see some of you join the team.
